
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham-Southern softball defeated Southern Athletic Association rival Rhodes College 5-1 and 3-1 in day one of their series. BSC (6-4) is guaranteed the series win with the sweep of their conference opener.
Annie Clayton (Eufaula, Ala./Eufaula HS) had a day, going a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate and pitched a complete seven innings to earn the first win of the day. She struck out six and gave up just one hit, finishing with a 0.00 ERA. Lauren Keplinger (Pinson, Ala./Wallace State CC) earned the closing win. She also threw a complete game and finished with a 1.00 ERA.
Madison Plunkett (Alabaster, Ala./Thompson HS) hit .600 with three hits and three runs on the day. And four other Panthers had multi-hit days.
The series concludes tomorrow with a single game at noon.
